Beam Analysis Program is a Windows application that solves for the reactions, shears, moments and deflections for continuous beams. Beam can have changes in cross section along its length and internal hinges. Point loads and distributed loads can be applied to the beam. Program has an interactive help file. All info, including graphics, can be printed.

CANDLINK is used as a guide in decision making for road rehabilitation by making preliminary determinations of the feasibility of upgrading a roadway link, resulting is list of potential upgrade projects. Each requires the following information: stream siltation, gravity, surface type and condition, forecast use, number of lanes, ADT, drainage, horizontal curvature, sight distance, turnouts, roadway width, bridge adequacy and subgrade soils.

The Critical Movement Analysis (Planning Method) for signalized intersections is described in Transportation Research Circular 212 (1980). The Critical Movement Analysis template was developed using LOTUS 1-2-3 for this application and includes a printout of the spreadsheet with example 1 from Circular 212.

CONDUFIL is used to assist in selecting the appropriate size conduit for traffic signal, roadway lighting, or traffic surveillance and control design. By specifying the number of conductors of each type and the acceptable percent fill ratio, the program selects the appropriate size conduit to meet the criterion.

PCSpeed is a program for the analysis of data from radar speed surveys. Given the number of observations of each speed, the program will calculate 50th, 85th, 90th, and 95th percentile speeds, along with the 10 mph pace range and percentages. The program will display the results on the screen and also produce a detailed 8 1/2 by 11 printout with a histogram showing the speed distribution.

QUEWZ is a program designed for evaluation of freeway work zones but can be used for other highway types. Single direction closures and crossovers are methods used to analyze work zones. Cost calculations include: estimation of vehicle capacity through work zones, average speed, delay through lane closure section, queue delay and more.

TACSim is an instructional too that emulates the functions of a simple two-phase traffic actuated controller. Vehicle arrivals are generated randomly for each second of the operation. A simple queue accumulation and discharge model simulates the operation at the stop line. A control panel gives you access to the basic operating parameters of a traffic-actuated controller, including the initial interval, extension interval, maximum green time, yellow and all-red times.
