How to Download HCS, HSS, and TSIS-CORSIM

To access the Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Highway Safety Software (HSS), TSIS-CORSIM, etc., please visit our store.
These are the steps that you can take to download the software products:

If you are a current user and maintaining your subscription:

  1. Visit http://store.mctrans.ce.ufl.edu and click on Log in.
  2. If you have already set up an account in our store, log in. Otherwise, register as a new customer and send an email to mctrans@ce.ufl.edu with your registration number.
    The registration number is formatted as ############# and only contains numbers.
  3. Please allow McTrans up to 2 business days as we update your record and tie the products that you have purchased to your account. We will assign a serial number for each of your products to activate your software.
    The serial number is formatted as #####-#####-#####-#####-#####-##### and contains numbers and letters.
  4. A new page will open and allow you to download the software that is registered. Your registration number along with your assigned serial number will be displayed in this screen. Also, if your subscription is expired, you will need to renew that before accessing the software.

If you want to purchase software and then access it:

  1. Visit http://store.mctrans.ce.ufl.edu and click on Log in.
  2. If you already have set up an account in our store, log in. Otherwise, register as a new customer.
  3. Browse our software products and add them to your cart and proceed to the checkout.
  4. Once you finish the purchase process, send an email to mctrans@ce.ufl.edu and let us know the end-users who need to have access to the software. The end-users must register in the store. We will assign their access to the purchased software products (including assigning a serial number for activation).
  5. For any questions regarding downloads, please contact us at mctrans@ce.ufl.edu.

Downloading Versions

Click on the BLUE Proceed to Download Versions to see the software versions available to download and uninstall prior versions before installing v2024.

Installing Your Software

  1. For regular installation, double-click the downloaded installation .exe file and follow the steps accordingly.
  2. For the silent installation, the instruction file (Silent Installation Readme.txt) is provided in the downloaded installation .exe file, which can be extracted to a folder as shown below (HCS2023 as an example). Response files are also included.
    Note: Silent installation is only available for 2023 series or later products.

Activating Your Software

  1. After installing your software, the activation window will appear on the initial use of the software. Follow the instructions on the window.
  2. There are two options for activation: Online Activation and E-mail Activation.
    • Please use Online Activation. If this does not work, then use E-mail Activation.
  3. After the activation option is chosen, activation data is needed. All required fields will be marked in red. They include the following:
    • Serial Number
    • Company Name
    • Company Address, City, Postal Code, and Country
    • E-mail Address
  4. A serial number should have been assigned to you for your product. If you cannot find this number or would like to confirm it, please contact us at mctrans@ce.ufl.edu. You can also find the number by logging into your account on the McTrans Store. The serial number for each purchased product will be listed in your account Product Registration page (first need to click on My account from the top menu).
  5. After filling out all the necessary information, you should be able to complete the activation process successfully and start using your software. If any issues arise, please contact us at mctrans@ce.ufl.edu.

Where to find or request your serial number

After you purchase your software and it is approved, a registration number and a serial number will be assigned to you for your product. This can take up to 2 business days after the order is placed. McTrans will contact you soon with any necessary information, including your registration number and serial number. If you cannot find your serial number or would like to confirm it, please contact us at mctrans@ce.ufl.edu.

You can also find the serial number by logging into your account on the McTrans Store:

  1. Visit http://store.mctrans.ce.ufl.edu and click on Log in.
  2. When you log in, click on My account. Then, select Product registration from the left menu.
  3. A list of your purchased products can be found on this page.
  4. Under each product, a serial number is provided. It is the first item listed.

Computer Registry Discrepancy Issue

If you have installed or uninstalled different versions of HCS or TSIS-CORSIM in the past, it is possible to run into this activation registry issue.
If you encounter a pop-up like the one in the image, follow the solutions listed below to troubleshoot the error.

Solution A

  1. Navigate to your HCS or TSIS-CORSIM program folder (HCS is usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\McTrans, TSIS-CORSIM is usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\FHWA) and find the file named lpregister510.exe.
  2. Right-click the file lpregister510.exe and select Run as administrator.
  3. It will look like nothing happened, but the program will be running in the background. Ensure the registry information is correct.
  4. If the problem persists and this issue is occurring for both HCS and TSIS-CORSIM, please try Solution B.

Solution B

  1. Uninstall all versions of HCS and TSIS-CORSIM on your computer through the Add or Remove Programs feature in Windows.
  2. Once all HCS and TSIS-CORSIM programs are uninstalled, re-install the newest versions of both HCS and TSIS-CORSIM.
  3. If the problem is still occurring, please replicate the steps listed in solution A.
  4. If you have gone through both of the above steps and are still encountering this pop-up, please contact McTrans support.

Uninstalling Your Software

  1. To uninstall your software, you may use the uninstall feature from the software itself or the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility.
  2. Software uninstall feature
    • Open the Windows start menu and find the folder with your software.
    • An uninstall item should be listed. Click the uninstall item (e.g., Windows > HCS2024 > Uninstall HCS2024).
    • The InstallShield Wizard will run. Follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall the software.
  3. Windows Add or Remove Programs utility
    • Search for Add or remove programs in the Windows search bar or open your Windows Settings > Apps.
    • In the list of apps, find the software you want to uninstall.
    • Click the software item in the list, then click the Uninstall button.
    • Follow any on-screen prompts to uninstall the software.

Deactivating Your Software

  1. To deactivate your software, open the License Viewer in your software.
    • Highway Capacity Software (HCS)
      1. Open the HCS main menu
      2. Click the three lines in the upper right corner of your window
      3. Select About HCS, which will cause the About HCS window to appear
      4. Click the License Viewer button
    • Highway Safety Software (HSS)
      1. Open HSS
      2. Click the About HSS link on the start screen or click Menu > Help > About HSS, which will cause the About HSS window to appear
      3. Click the License Viewer button
    • TSIS-CORSIM
      1. Open TSIS-CORSIM
      2. Click Help > About TSIS, which will cause the About TSIS-CORSIM window to appear
      3. Click the License Viewer button
  2. Once the License Viewer window is open, click the Transfer License button found at the bottom of the window.
  3. An activation window will appear. To deactivate your license, click the Deactivate now button found at the bottom of the window. Follow the instructions on the window to deactivate your software.
    • If you decide to not deactivate your software, please click the End button at the bottom of the window or the x button at the top right corner of the window instead.
  4. If you need to reactivate your software, close your current software session and start a new session. An activation window will appear and you can click on the Activate again button. Follow the instructions on the window to reactivate your software.
